SunTrust Banks, Inc. based in Atlanta, Georgia, is the nation's 10th largest commercial banking organization. As of September 30, 2000, SunTrust had total assets of $100.5 billion and total deposits of $69.2 billion. Equity capital of $7.7 billion represented 7.66% of total assets. Book value per share was $25.85.

SunTrust offers a full line of consumer and commercial banking services to more than 3.7 million customers through more than 1,100 branches and 1,900 ATMs across six states - Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia as well as the District of Columbia. Its primary businesses include traditional deposit and credit services as well as trust and investment services. Through various subsidiaries SunTrust provides credit cards, mortgage banking, insurance, brokerage and investment services. As of September 30, 2000, SunTrust had total trust assets of $112.9 billion, including more than $85.5 billion in discretionary trust assets, and a mortgage- servicing portfolio in excess of $41.0 billion.
